History Bytes: Frances the Falconer’s Daughter

Frances (Latham) Dungan Clarke Vaughan (c. 1610-1677) of Bedfordshire was the daughter of Sir Lewis Latham, Lord Falconer to King Charles I. She came to America with Newport founder Jeremy Clarke and her children from first husband William Dungan. She had 82 great grandchildren from both marriages including many Rhode Island governors and Thomas Dungan, the first Baptist minister in Pennsylvania. She married thirdly William Vaughan and is buried in the Common Burying Ground.
