During Addressing Thee, interpreters dressed in authentic “Regency-era” attire will read excerpts from letters written between family members during the first half of the 19th century.

The Williams papers is an important collection of correspondence and related documents of two generations of the family of Obadiah Williams (1767-1848), Quakers, of Newport and Providence, RI, New Bedford, MA and New York State. The letters reflect family and spiritual matters, debates over war and the changes occurring in the young country. Addressing Thee helps bring to life the struggles experienced during the early 19th century while sharing insight on what Newport was like during this transitional era.
