A Writer’s Dozen highlights desks made by local craftsmen – and two fine examples from Providence. All were used by Newporters, and in some cases, by multiple generations. Many of the traditional Newport desk forms are included, as well as some less common arrangements. The exhibit includes the desk at which William Ellery, signer of the Declaration of Independence, worked and wrote.
