For almost 20 years, the Newport Historical Society has provided access to local history to Newport’s residents and visitors, for free, through a series of street-based history panels than comprise a self-guided walking tour of the Historic Hill. Today, the signs are generally dilapidated and several are missing. Through support from the Hamilton Foundation for Newport and the City itself, the Historical Society will begin a program of replacing and renewing the signs this spring.
